Every week, the Association du cancer de l\u2019Est du Qu\u00e9bec, in collaboration with certified and trained massage therapists, offers beneficial massages <strong>to people with cancer and their loved ones<\/strong> <strong>who are accompanying them<\/strong>. These massages are adapted to the reality of the disease to promote physical and psychological well-being during cancer.<\/p>\n<p>To meet a wide range of needs, the Association has developed various components for its massage therapy service:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>In the oncology clinic, while chemotherapy treatment is administered<\/li>\n<li>Table (60 minutes) or chair (15 minutes) massages at the Cendrine and Philippe Wellness Center<\/li>\n<li>Table massages (60 minutes) in a private clinic (some areas only)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>In each case, the <strong>massage therapist adapts their professional acts<\/strong> to suit each person, based on the nature and stage of the disease, intervention technique, respecting contraindications and the needs of the sick person for gentleness and company.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u00ab Adapted massage therapy can do a world of good for cancer patients. It can improve a person\u2019s performance status, boost their morale (which is so essential in the healing process), and improve their quality of life. Chair massages are performed over clothing, on parts of the body such as the head, shoulders, neck, arms. The full-body massages relieve and soothe.<\/p>\n<p>Both types of massage are given by a massage therapist certified in oncology. They will inquire as to the patient\u2019s state of health before beginning the massage and will adapt the massage to the patient\u2019s situation.
